Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
Your mind keeps working through possibilities, conversations, or things that could go wrong. Even when there is time to rest, settling down can be difficult.
Psychotherapy for working through difficult thoughts, feelings, patterns, and life experiences while building skills that support growth.
You might be struggling more than usual and finding how you normally manage things isn't helping in the same way. Something specific may have happened, or the change may be harder to pinpoint: you feel more overwhelmed, less connected to yourself, or caught in patterns that keep returning.
I’m Tiina Kivinen, a Registered Psychotherapist, and I offer practical support and real tools to help with what you're facing, along with the space to understand the emotions, experiences, and patterns that may be holding you back.
Virtual psychotherapy in Canada.

When much of your attention goes toward getting through the day, your own needs can become difficult to recognize. Therapy gives us time to notice what you have been putting aside and understand how it is affecting you.

I’m a Registered Psychotherapist with a Master’s in Counselling Psychology. Before entering psychotherapy, I spent more than 20 years teaching yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and self-regulation, and I began counselling hypnotherapy work in 2018.
That background still shapes how I listen and how I respond when something feels difficult or overwhelming. I take time to understand what you are experiencing, while also helping you find practical ways to work with what is happening in your life.

Keeping up has become exhausting. You may be questioning how much you can continue to give, or feeling uncertain about returning to work after time away.
You feel low, disconnected, or unlike yourself. Things that once interested you may feel distant, and everyday responsibilities take more effort.
Grief, parenting, relationship difficulties, health changes, or a new stage of life can leave you uncertain about how to move forward.
You may not be in crisis at all. You might want to understand yourself more deeply, change patterns that keep repeating, feel more grounded in your choices, or make more room for the parts of life that matter to you.
The patterns that hold us back often began as useful ways of getting through something difficult.

Our work can include finding ways to manage difficult moments, changing habits, or preparing for a conversation you have been avoiding. It can also involve understanding the experiences, expectations, and relationships that have shaped how you respond.
Practical change and deeper exploration often inform each other. Understanding a pattern can make it easier to recognize what you want to do differently.
My practice is based in Ottawa, and sessions take place online.
One-to-one psychotherapy sessions are $150. Limited sliding-scale spaces may be available. Psychotherapy may be covered by extended health plans that include services from a Registered Psychotherapist.
